What is the Heritage Passport FamilySearch Center?

It is a public starting point for family research. Use it to reach FamilySearch historical records, the catalog, Family Tree and country research guides, then return to your Heritage Passport citizenship tree.

Do I need a Heritage Passport membership to use this center?

No. The research links and country guides are public. Sign in to Heritage Passport to work on your own citizenship tree, connect your account or manage your records.

Where should I start if I am missing a name or place?

Write down the full name, approximate year and town you already know. Search historical records, try spelling variations, and use the country guide to identify local collections.

Can I use a FamilySearch image as my application certificate?

A research image is not automatically the certified copy your application needs. Use the image to identify the record, then check your case checklist before ordering a certificate.

Found a clue? Bring it back to your tree.

Save the source link and check the names, dates and relationships before adding what you’ve learned to your citizenship tree.
