A few questions
No. You need to know who your qualifying ancestor is and roughly when and where they were born. Getting the documents is what the cohort is for. The application asks what you have and what's missing so your retrieval plan starts on day one.
Every session is recorded and posted the same night. Bring your questions to the cohort space or Wednesday office hours. Missing one session is fine; missing two makes the filing commitment hard to keep.
Ireland: yes. The Foreign Births Register application is submitted online, and you'll submit it by Session 4. Your supporting documents follow by mail as they arrive — that's what the filing window is for. Canada: your citizenship certificate application will be prepared and ready; it goes in the moment your last record lands.
No. New York State and New York City restrict birth records that aren't old enough to be public, but descendants can obtain them by court order. PetitionKit walks you through preparing and filing that petition. It's the most common wall for Irish claims through New York, and the cohort was built around it.
Quebec's Directeur de l'état civil only releases records to people with a proven relationship, and the request has to be made a specific way. Session 3 of the Canada track is built around exactly that. We do it together.
